I chose anatomy and physiology because I am very interested in the human body and how
it works. I am in 4 sports a year and I am interested to see if taking this class
will help me to understand how I can use this information to train better and become
a better athlete. I am a little more interested in the physiology part than the
anatomy part of this class. I would like to become something in the medical field and
this class is very important to get me going in the right direction.
I think that I will be grossed out a little bit by the pig but I think that I will
be able to stand it a little bit better than most people. I will not be looking
forward to the bad smell than anything, but the juices aren’t sounding very nice
either. I have some experiences with dissection. Last year in biology I dissected the
frog, I think that it went well and I was very interested in it. The frog is the most
famous and well known but I think that I am looking forward to the pig more than
anything because it is the most like humans. In 5th grade we also dissected cow lung,
I don’t remember very much and I don’t think that I can take very much information
from that experience and apply it to this one. Also, freshman year we dissected
chickens in the class of small animals. They aren’t very much like humans but we did
find the duodenum, jejunum, and the ileum. Hopefully taking these previous
experiences will help me to do an even better job during this dissection. I don’t
think I will use gloves. Not because I want to but because I don’t have any. It’s not
a big deal to me either, they are disinfected. I don’t know if I would approve of
this as animal rights but they are going to a good cause so I think I could let it
go. The labs, self test, and keeping on track will be the hardest part for me.
